It seems that applocale cannot run under Vista

Hi Lok Tak,
According to www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx that tool only works on XP and Server 2003. There is no mention on whether it will be migrated to Vista at this time.

I need to run some programs in different language and hope MS will fix it soon.

I will pass along the suggestion, though you can too using the feedback tool. Frankly, I think they will concentrate on the release of Vista. Migration of tools like this will likely not be looked at until afterward.

Actually, that's not exactly true. There is a workaround for it, if you really want to run Apploc; you need to run it as an elevated command. I needed to install it for some Japanese programs I use, and have found that the following solution helps.
1. Right Click on the Command Prompt option on the Start Menu and choose *Run as administrator*.
2. Click Continue when the User Account Control dialog comes up (assuming you have UAC activated).
3. From the Command Prompt, just run X:\Directory\apploc.msi (where X is the drive and "Directory" is your directory path) and it should install without any trouble at all. Hope this helps.
Of course, bear in mind that this is a workaround - not a permanent fix, which is much more desirable. I would strongly suggest (as I did) make a System Restore point before you attempt this.
